Falls High School students celebrated homecoming this week, with a mini-coronation and pep fest highlighting the activities.
Eight students in grades 9-12 received crowns Wednesday as they became the homecoming kings and queens of their class.
In ninth grade, Tessa Walls and Jack Bartkowski were crowned; Blair Johnson and Austin Geiselhart were chosen as 10th grade royalty; Elizabeth Kruse and Wesley Gunnerson were the 11th grade king and queen; and Hanna Heibel and Brandon Shofner received the honor for 12th grade.
The gymnasium full of friends and family of those being crowned erupted into cheers for each couple. Each queen for the four grades had almost the same jaw-dropping reaction when the tiaras were placed on their heads.
Pep fest festivities continued following the coronation ceremony with Jack Bragg, Ashley Farmer, Beau Herzig, and Kelsey Foss leading the event as emcees.
Farmer and Foss donned football pads and jerseys and Bragg and Herzig squeezed into volleyball spandex and uniforms.
Each fall sports team was recognized including boys and girls cross country, girls swimming, volleyball and football. Seniors of each team received a Bronco button for
their participation.
The football cheerleaders got the crowd going with their annual homecoming dance.
Emcees directed activities to entertain the crowd, including an interesting match up between history teacher John Sandberg and Superintendent Jeff Peura. The pair, which Peura noted were engaging in a “new level of cooperation,” had to position a pair of pantyhose containing an orange on their head. They then had to knock over as many bottles full of Sprite as they could in one minute. Much to the crowd’s noticeable delight, Sandberg won the challenge.
Other events that took place during the week were a parade Wednesday, dress-up days and lunchtime activities.
Each sports team had a home game or meet during the week.
