Winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Americanism Spring Coloring and Art Contest were recently named.
Prizes were awarded, given by Peter Graham Auxiliary 2948, in each category — first place, $20; second place, $15; third place, $10; and honorable mention, $5.
The category of kindergarten through second graders colored a picture of the Buddy Poppy provided by the Auxiliary, and third and fourth graders made posters with a POW-MIA theme.
Over 200 students participated from Falls Elementary School and St. Thomas School. Kindergarten through second graders numbered 182 and 27 were third graders; no fourth graders participated.
Winners include, kindergarten through second grade — first place, Ashden Lennox; second place, Carson Crandall; and third place, Danika Thydean Robar.
Third through fourth grade winners were — first place, Axel Bolter; second place, Rylee Mann; third place, Ciera Bublitz; and honorable mention, William Ginter.
First place winners will be sent on to the District 8 VFW Auxiliary for judging. Those winners will then go on to the State of Minnesota VFW Auxiliary for judging for additional prizes.
Acknowledgment was given to the teachers allowing students to participate while in class.
