The Falls High School Senior High Knowledge Bowl team took 16th place in state competition April 13-14 at Cragun’s Resort, Brainerd.
In the small school division, 24 teams competed.
According to the group’s advisor, Carol Jaksa, the team “performed well, above average, in the oral rounds but had a low score on the written round. They started 20 points below the top and just couldn’t make up the points with the tough competition at state.”
The written round determines the original rank of the team and is a 60-question multiple choice test. The team ranked 21 out of 24, where a rank of 1 is the highest score.
Jaksa went on to say, “The good news is, they are only sophomores and the future is bright. They potentially have two more shots at state. Also, to put things in perspective, there are almost 1,000 Knowledge Bowl teams statewide and only 48 schools (24 large and 24 small) make it to state competition.”
