The 2016 Indus Fine Arts Night, staged April 28 in the Indus School commons, featured a variety of arts being offered at Indus School – visual arts, drama, culinary arts, fashion/interior design, speech, and music (by alumnus Gordon Lewis). Also, a “Living History Museum” was performed by fifth and seventh grade students.

An art show was presented by art teacher Lisa Simon and the Indus Art Club students, along with work from all student artists, as well as a pottery sale.

A fashion/interior design window display showcased the work of Family and Consumer Sciences students, and appetizers were provided by ProStart I and II culinary arts classes taught by Lois Lewis.

Speech team member Kierstyn Johnson performed her poetry entry, “To This Day,” by Shane Koyczan.

The Drama Club, directed by adviser Stacy Ottemann, produced a one-act play with a collection of American folktales and legends called, “Bigger than Life,” by Cynthia Mercati. The collection included: “Sal Fink and the River Pirates,” “Bess Call and the City Slicker,” “Sally Cato and the Giant,” “Pecos Bill and His Cyclone” and “Annie Oakley.” Cast members for the play were Kierstyn Johnson, Irish Malapitan, Anastasia Noyes, Kaylandra Banner, Miranda Whitman, and Austin Hasbargen and surprise cast members from the audience.

The “Living History Museum” featured students dressed up as historical figures, who presented their biographies when an imaginary “button” was pressed. Teachers Kris Johnson and Jessamine Julian coordinated this event.

Background music was provided by alumnus Gordon Lewis, who is a musician based in Colorado Springs, Colo.
