Students enrolled in Composition II at Rainy River Community College will present short documentary films in the college theater from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Throughout the semester, students in the four different sections of Composition II have been learning about writing and communication as it relates to research, argument, technical, and professional writing.
This film festival provides them the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in a unique media setting. Students will present their documentaries in groups, and the topics they are exploring range from conspiracy theories, local interest stories, studies in careers and academics, transitions, equality, and diversity.
Films will be evaluated by a panel of two instructors from RRCC, who will be joined by a student judge. The panel will award first, second, and third place to the top three documentaries.
The event is open to the community.
