Indus School elementary students recently participated in a rite of spring when they observed butterflies hatching from their pupas and then released the butterflies into the air.
Kindergarten teacher Miranda Gustafson made a classroom project out of watching the cocoons and took a video of the butterflies breaking out of them, teaching students about the stages of the butterfly life cycle.
Elementary students and staff were invited outdoors to watch as the butterflies were set free.
