Indus School third and fourth grades recently went on a field trip to the Government Center in Baudette.

Various individuals at the center helped the students to better understand how local government works.

The highlight for many was a mock trial where the students acted as witnesses, lawyers, and even the judge to see if the Big Bad Wolf was guilty of blowing down the pigs’ houses.

The third and fourth grade classes were also given a “Wildlife Talk” by David Dragon of the Baudette Department of Natural Resources.

Students learned about various animals’ survival skills and habitats. This was followed by a hike in the woods to identify evidence of animals that had been there. The students proved to be good nature detectives as they found several signs of animals throughout the forest.
