Horne Dunn recognized at UND
University of North Dakota student Becky Horne Dunn, of Littlefork, was named to the deans’ list, the president’s roll of honor and selected to serve as university marshal during spring commencement exercises 2012.
The deans’ list includes students whose grade point averages are in the top 15 percent of the enrollment in each of the university degree-granting colleges and schools. A student must have completed no fewer than 12 semester hours of academic work for the semester, of which eight or more hours must be graded work rather than “satisfactory/unsatisfactory.”
To qualify for the president’s roll of honor a student must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or higher The student must also have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours and have completed a minimum of 12 hours at the close of the semester, eight of which must be for traditional letter grades.
University marshals are selected from the junior class, primarily on the basis of academic excellence.
Horne Dunn is the daughter of Curtis Dunn and Bonnie Horne Dunn.
Sobczynski named to UW-River Falls list
Helen Sobczynski, of International Falls, was among more than 2,222 students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls who made the spring semester dean’s list.
Sobczynski is majoring in animal science.
To be named to the dean’s list, a full-time undergraduate student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an A and B average.
Littlefork student receives scholarship
Hannah Larson, of Littlefork, has received a $750 Speech Language Hearing Science Upper Class Academic Scholarship from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
She is the daughter of Mary and Lyle Larson.
The Upper Class Academic Scholarship is available to students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and completion of at least 12 MSUM credits. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership and contributions to campus and community organizations.
UMD announces spring dean’s list
The University of Minnesota Duluth has announced its dean’s list for spring semester 2012.
Students on the dean’s list have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
International Falls students named to the dean’s list include:

UW-Stevens Point undergrads honored
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored undergraduate students for attaining high grade point averages during the spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year.
International Falls students honored were Sarah E. Manka, highest honors, and Jonathan G McDonald, honors.
Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 (4.0 equals straight A) are given the highest honors designation.
High honor citations go to those with grade point averages from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with grade point averages from 3.50 to 3.74.
Glover named to UMM dean’s list
Laura Glover, of International Falls, has been named to the University of Minnesota, Morris, dean’s list for the 2012 spring semester.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.66 or higher while taking 12 or more credits.
