Jeffrey Peura to begin administrating July 1
“I am so excited to get up here and starting working with you,” said District 361’s new superintendent as he shook hands along the table with each of the members of the Falls School Board.
Jeffrey Peura made the drive from East Central School District 2580 in Finlayson to witness his unanimous approval by the board, followed by applause, at a special meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Peura currently serves as superintendent for schools in the communities of Sandstone, Askov, Bruno and Kerrick. Under the direction of the school board, he will have charge of the administration of the International Falls schools beginning July 1.
Peura has a two-year contract with the district which ends June 30, 2012.
For his service, he will be paid $100,000 for the 2010-11 contract year, and $101,500 for the 2011-12 contract year. Peura is eligible for the district’s health, disability, dental and life insurance and shall be granted the rights of leave, compensation and tax-sheltered annuities as detailed in his contract.
Interim Superintendent Kevin Grover will serve until Peura’s start date, and will then revert to the dean of students position, Grover told The Journal.
Board member Mark Lassila was absent from the meeting.
