Chad Foster, author of Teenagers Preparing for the Real World, inspired a recent event at Falls High School — “Meet a New Person Day.”
Participating in the event were community members from International Falls and students in a Family and Consumer Science class entitled “On Your Own,” taught by Marva Fairchild.
In his book, Foster encourages teenagers to meet all kinds of people, ask a million questions, and to pursue their dreams. He further states that the people you meet throughout life, called “contacts,” made and developed over years, are key to a successful life. According to Foster, a person with many contacts has a huge advantage in life and that making contacts is a skill that a person develops and takes practice to improve. Students in the FACS “On Your Own” class read Foster’s book.
