Cindy Kostiuk, partner of Nick Kochaniuk who died in International Falls in 2010, poses with Steve Schutz, the recipient of the first Minnesota State University Moorhead Nick Kochaniuk Football Scholarship. According to an MSUM Alumnews publication, the scholarship which honors Kochaniuk, a former MSUM Dragon football player, is spearheaded by Jon Wylie, a friend of Kochaniuk. The award will be “an annual scholarship in honor of Nick that exemplifies the passion, toughness and strength that he displayed during his football career with the Dragons,” the publication said.
