On May 15, Dr. Jim Haglund, vice president of War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste Marie, Mich., was inducted into the St. Louis University Alumni Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame in Saint Louis, Mo.

The John Cook School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship celebrates Saint Louis University’s alumni who have demonstrated an entrepreneurial level of expertise and made a difference in their community and profession.

The Hall of Fame exists to recognize and celebrate those graduates of Saint Louis University who have contributed to society and the economy through entrepreneurial leadership in corporate and independent ventures. Haglund was privileged to join a very prestigious hall of fame group of accomplished entrepreneurs and was one of only five individuals selected from thousands of alumni by a blue-ribbon panel composed of prominent national entrepreneurs and community leaders for his achievements in the development of the rehabilitation department.

Haglund has been with War Memorial Hospital since 1989. Under his direction, the department experienced a 2,800 percent growth in annual revenue and an increase in the number of professional personnel from 4 to over 80. In addition to domestically trained staff, Haglund’s recruitment efforts have included professionals from New Zealand, Australia, China, the Philippines, England, Belgium and Canada.

The department is currently one of the largest rehabilitation facilities in the Upper Midwest offering a full spectrum of rehabilitative services.

Haglund holds a bachelors degree (with distinction) from the University of Minnesota, master of science (research) in anatomy from St. Louis University Medical School, masters in business administration and masters in public administration from Lake Superior State University, and a doctorate from Arizona School of Health Sciences.

He is a graduate of Falls Senior High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Haglund of International Falls. Krystal Garland was in attendance for the induction ceremony.
