The Indus School lifetime sports class taught by Melody Nelson recently took a trip to Voyageurs National Park, just east of International Falls on Highway 11.
The students got a chance to snowshoe about a mile away from the Voyageurs headquarters before returning to ski. They then followed the ice road and went across the lake to the ski trails. The group had the chance to ski trails anywhere from .5 miles to 5.5 miles.
Senior JR Westover enjoyed the day, saying, “I had a lot of fun; it was nice to be so close to nature.”
That was the sentiment of many of the students who went on the trip; being able to see the vibrant colors in nature was a real treat. Nastya Dudnik noted, “I didn’t really like all the skiing but the hills were really fun!”
