Winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 2012 Loyalty Day contest have been announced.
Kindergarten through second grade winners were: first place, Carter Leseman (second grade); second place, Madison Lowe (second grade); and third place, Devon Lufbery (first grade).
Honorable mention went to kindergarten students Evelina Zastavski, Carter Woods, Evie Conat, Aubrey Pavleck and Obi Ugboajah.
The assignment was to color the picture of the flag provided. Prizes were awarded in the form of gift cards. Honorable mentions received a VFW coloring book and box of crayons.
AllĀ 220 students received a certificate for participating.
No third and fourth grade students took part in composing a poem pertaining to the flag or patriotism, and no fifth or sixth grade graders participated in composing an ode to the United States flag.
Callahan Grosjean and Ryne Glover, who earlier won in the fall Americanism poster and essay contest, also placed at the District 8 level and received monetary gifts.
