Parent Involvement Committee member and Falls elementary schools’ cookbook co-organizer Heather McBride explains to the “older” students at the school that they need to submit their recipes by Feb. 15 if they want to be included in the first fundraising effort of its kind in maybe 20 years. “People still cherish those cookbooks,” McBride said of the earlier effort. Besides, all the profits go to help teachers pay for items needed for current and future projects. Nowadays, studies say nearly all teachers spend on average $1,000 a year on supplies either the parents or districts say they can’t afford.
