Nineteen Falls High School seniors were recognized for completing the 2011-2012 school year STRIVE Program at an awards supper at Sha~Sha June 6.
Students and mentors were treated to a Voyageurs National Park boat ride before the awards presentation. Grant award winners are: Tyler Olestad, Frank Nevanen, Josh Owen, Bryce Hanson, Abbey Fox, Joey Dunahoo, Heidi Batchelder, Ashley Farmer, Colten LaFrance, Logan Pavleck, Joanie Morrison, Matt Buhl and Cainaan Nelson.
STRIVE is an incentive program designed to assist students that may not be meeting their maximum potential in school during their senior year. STRIVE attempts to help Falls High School seniors become more successful by providing incentives and help during their last year in high school. The STRIVE Program is based on three keys of success: Show up, do the work, and have a positive attitude.
Guest speakers at the monthly meetings provided new incite and encouragement to the STRIVE mentors and students. Guest speakers included Sue Fraik, Ladd Kocinski, Scott Riley, Dave Peterson, Scott Roberts, Gail Rasmussen and Steve Earley.
Awards donations were received from: Aquilo, Boise Inc., Boise Safety Awards, Border State Bank, Bremer Bank, Coca Cola Bottlers Foundation, Coca Cola Bottling of International Falls, Cine 5, Degree of Honor, Elk’s (McBride Brothers and Crew, Maxi Corrin and Crew, Past Exulted Rulers), Essentia Health, Hardee’s, Knudson Foundation, Lady Elk’s, Lenard’s, Lions, Randy’s Auto, Sha~Sha Resort, Super One, Sue and Stuart Nordquist, TruStar Federal Credit Union and Voyageurs National Park.
