Indus School Report
Brandon Peterson, an Indus High School alumnus who graduated in 2004 and now works as lead maintenance mechanic in the Fergus Falls wetland management district, recently visited Indus School. He gave the kindergartners a presentation on some of the animals that are in his district.
“The kids got a really neat show from Brandon; he showed them a lot of different animals and animal calls,” senior JR Westover noted.
Peterson showed them how almost all the animals have natural camouflage to help them blend in with their surroundings. In particular, there was an owl wing that looked identical to a piece of bark, which just goes to show how well they can hide.
As the animals hides were passed around, the kids got a chance to touch and feel the texture of feathers and fur from different animals. According to kindergarten teacher Sara Wendt, “We were very happy to have him with us and loved learning about everything that he brought with him.”
