Students were able to give from their own piggy banks to help children their own age fight cancer

The students of St. Thomas Catholic School pulled together to help fight cancer with the Pennies for Patients program.

Students raised $506 to fight leukemia and lymphoma. Led by Jill Morrison, each class was challenged to bring in their change. It was reported the buckets filled up with amazing speed. Students were able to give from their own piggy banks to help children their own age fight cancer.

Joan Ecklund’s class of third and fourth graders led the class competition with $150.27.

School officials report this has been an annual tradition at St. Thomas Catholic School and fits well with the mission of helping neighbors whether they are down the street or across the nation.
