Skye Fuller

Sophomore Skye Fuller attempts five baskets for her team during the Quadrathon competition.

The Indus School ProStart classes and student council hosted some activities having to do with National Nutrition Month during March.

They did some fun things like put questions about nutrition and food in the daily announcements and the first one to get the answer correctly received a snack such as an apple and milk. The school store had free smoothies twice in the morning and the ProStart I class did a Fruit and Veggie table in the commons for elementary students.

ProStart I also did a Nutrition Month/Fuel Up to Play 60 event called a “Quadrathon” March 23, which was the end of third quarter. The purpose of the event was to help the food shelf and get kids to be active. Students could pay $5 or bring in five canned food items for the Food Shelf to enter a team. Approximately $60 and 100 items were raised for the cause through this event alone.

The race included five softball hits from a pitching machine, five basketball free throws, five hockey goals, and a scooter race. There were seven teams of students and one teacher team. Each team had four people, and one person on each team did an event. The teams were competing for International House of Bowling bowling passes and Subway cards. The runners-up got a bowling pass and a school store coupon. There was a tie for first so there was a relay run to break the tie.  After the competition, classes were invited to form random teams to play just for the fun of it.
