Indus School Report

Two students from Indus School recently scored in the top 20 percent of students nationwide in the National Financial Capability Challenge, an online evaluation of student achievement in the area of financial literacy. The Challenge is sponsored annually by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Department of Education.

Seth Almquist and Maria Lewis, both Indus juniors, were among 80,000 students representing every state in the country, who took the online Challenge, and they received a Certificate of Recognition for being among the top scorers nationwide.

The average score on the National Financial Capability Challenge across the country is only 69 percent. However, 70 percent of the students who took the Challenge at Indus placed higher than this percentage.

These students, including Almquist and Lewis, took the Challenge as part of the Consumer Education class offered in the Family and Consumer Sciences program taught by Lois Lewis at Indus School.
