FHS Staff Report

Falls High School students recently took part in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator training made possible by the Community Safety Award given by Boise Inc.

Instructor Pauline Costley Walls taught the students, who were in either Wendy Mayer’s Life Skills class or Marva Fairchild’s Family and Consumer Science class entitled “On Your Own.”

The group successfully completed the objectives and skills evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of the American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid program and CPR AED program. They learned the latest safety measures to follow in emergency situations: how to respond, how to be safe, and how to best help.

According to school officials, having the students receive this training makes the community a safer place, and will be an asset for the student in looking for employment. Whether it’s a minor or serious injury, the students are trained to respond correctly and quickly. These skills will benefit the students, their families, and the community.
