Red flags indicating abuse will be one of the topics discussed in a presentation on preventing abuse of vulnerable adults.

The training for professionals who work in the care sector is titled Vulnerable Adult Abuse Intervention & Prevention, and is offered by Ranier-based Decker’s Family Care, Inc. The free presentation is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. June 14 at the International Falls AmericInn Hotels & Suites.

The program will address tactics used by perpetrators, warning signs and  resources,  Minnesota’s vulnerable adult law, and the process of making a maltreatment report.

The objective is to improve care professionals’ “ability to assess the risk for abuse by staff, care recipients and facilities,” according to information on the event.

The training will be instructed by Harbir Kaur, an elder victim services coordinator for Minneapolis-based Tubman Elder Care & Rights Center.
