BSU Staff Report

FM90, Bemidji State University’s student-operated radio station, is allowing mass communication students who are interested in radio or taking an audio production class to gain experience in radio.

Bemidji State students involved with FM90 gain experience through management, sales, advertising, and production of one of the Bemidji area’s most popular FM radio stations. Students can become DJs for a semester and produce their own radio shows.

While FM90 is a Top 40 station, it also has shows dedicated to bluegrass (6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays), techno, death metal, dubstep (3-6pm on Sundays), and hip-hop.

Calissa Treat, “DJ Cali T,” a freshman from International Falls in the mass communication program, has the 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays time slot.

KBSB 89.7 FM (FM90) is a non-commercial broadcast station licensed to the university by the Federal Communications Commission.
