Filing for boards, councils opens

The filing period for seats on several government boards and councils to be decided in the November general election opened last week.

The filing period for these positions closes Aug. 14.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the following people have filed:

• International Falls City Council, an at-large and mayor position — Paul Eklund, Bob Anderson for mayor; Willi Kostiuk at-large council.

• International Falls School Board, three at-large seats — Harley Droba, Michelle Hebner, Mike Holden and Mark Lassila.

• South Koochiching School Board, three at-large seats — Dustin Waller.

• Ranier City Council, mayor and two council seats —  no one has filed.

• Littlefork City Council, mayor and two council seats — Mike Fort for mayor; Loren Lehman, council seat. 

• Big Falls City Council, mayor and two council seats, and remaining term on vacated council seat — Leslie Lepisto filed to complete term of vacated seat.
