The Abrams Brothers

The Abrams Brothers will take the Backus Community Center stage at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday as the first of five shows in the Border Concert Association series.

The Abrams Brothers are fourth-generation musicians with musical roots reaching back to their great-grandparents. Despite being in their early 20s, the brothers have been touring together for more than a decade.

The trio will perform a combination of bluegrass, country and folk-rock 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Backus Community Center as the first show in the Border Concert Association series.

According to a release, John, James and cousin Elijah, have become Canadian festival favorites. The boys are live performance veterans dating back to the ages of 11 and 9. The group has already racked up quite the resume including being the youngest Canadians to appear at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry in 2005. They’ve toured Europe several times and have performed twice at the Jacob’s Ladder Folk Festival in Israel.

The Abrams Brothers recently released their fourth album, “Northern Redemption,” which follows the release of “Blue on Brown,” an album of songs by Arlo Guthrie and Bob Dylan. This record was the boys’ tribute to songwriters they admire. Even Guthrie recognized the talent of these youngsters after he heard them playing his own songs at one of his shows, the release said. Guthrie thought they were “way too young to be playing that good. I know I will be hearing from The Abrams Brothers for a long time to come,” the release continued.

Season tickets for all five Border Concert Association shows cost $45 for adults; $10 for students; and $95 for families. Single-show tickets will also be available at the door the night of each performance.

Tickets are available at City Drug, County Market and the Backus office in the Falls; Betty’s, Fort Frances Museum and Northwoods Gallery and Gifts in Fort Frances; Cloverleaf Store, Greensides and Emo Drug Store in Emo; and from Rose Kreger in Rainy River.
