Backus Community Center officials this week announced the third installment of the 2015-16 Performing Arts Series featuring an artist with a local connection.
Chris Koza, son-in-law of Charles and Mary Casanova, takes the stage with band, Rogue Valley, at 7 p.m. Oct. 23, after doing outreach workshops at area schools all week.
Known as one of the Twin Cities most dynamic live acts, a news release said Rogue Valley is an internationally-recognized band that has released a total of four albums and a vinyl LP since 2010.
The band performs regularly at top Twin Cities’ venues and festivals, and have extensively toured the U.S., sharing the stage or supporting artists like Andrew Bird, Justin Vernon, The Jayhawks, Lucinda Williams, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Mason Jennings, Cloud Cult, Brandi Carlile, and Tift Merrit, among others.
Their songs have been featured on television for ABC, MTV, and CBS as well as numerous local and national commercials, and most recently Rogue Valley’s song, “The Wolves and the Ravens,” was featured in Twentieth Century Fox’s feature film, “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” starring Ben Stiller. Paste Magazine calls Rogue Valley one Minnesota’s best bands, and they continue to receive critical-acclaim from both local and national press.
Band members include Koza, lead vocals, acoustic guitar; Peter Sieve, electric guitar, backup vocals; Linnea Mohn, keys, tambourine, backup vocals; Paul Engels, bass; with Luke Anderson on drums.
