The Icebox Radio Theater will present the first-ever “Bundled Up Theater Festival” scheduled to hit airwaves this February.
The festival will celebrate live theater with a collection of new and original plays mixed in with some classic Icebox scripts and recreations of old-time radio plays of yesteryear.
But this festival is a little different, a release said. Rather than requiring the audience to venture out into the frigid winter cold, Icebox Radio invites everyone to stay at home, bundle up and listen via a variety of Internet listening devices.
The release continued that festival plays will be performed live at Icebox Radio’s studio at Backus Community Center in International Falls. Audiences can then listen to the plays — as they happen — via the Internet. More information will be available soon.
According to the release, the three nights of the Bundled Up Theater Festival are divided into themes. Feb. 22 features tales of fright and terror. Feb. 23 is a night of romance with two stories examining love of the December and May variety. Finally, on the afternoon of Feb. 24, is adventure time featuring a visit from two of Icebox Radio’s series – The Scoop Sisters and QICE: Radio North.
The Bundled Up Theater Festival is a fundraiser for the Icebox Radio Theater, which is a non-profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible. Supporters may purchase tickets to the festival at www.iceboxradio.org.
The tickets, which are not required to listen to the broadcasts, feature festival dates and times listed. Ticket buyers also receive a Bundled Up Theater Festival Party guide featuring games, trivia, and recipes from IBRT luminaries for hot hors d’oeuvres, beverages and other cold weather treats, the release concluded.
