Keith Winger and the Classic Country Band will be featured at the Koochiching County Fair in Northome.

The fair is coming to town.

The Koochiching County Fair at the fairgrounds in Northome is set for Aug. 8-10 and features several returning favorites and new additions to the schedule of events. Fair gates open in Northome at 9 a.m. Aug. 8 with free rummage sale space on the grounds all day, a picnic lunch, kickball tournament, spaghetti dinner and a talent show in the evening.

Saturday’s events include the sinkhole scramble, a two-mile and five-kilometer walk/run for all ages — plus a stroller scrambler division, a parade in Northome at 1 p.m., an ATV mud run at the fairgrounds beginning at 3 p.m., a ham dinner, and following the grandstand show at 7 p.m., a “spectacular” fireworks display at dusk, according to a release.

Keith Winger and The Classic Country Band will be the featured grandstand event at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the fair, according to the release.

Sunday’s highlight is a horse competition show with the Northwoods Saddle Club from Effie. The event is open to everyone.

Family events and activities take place all day Aug. 10 with laser tag, bocce ball, a medallion hunt, miniature golf, bingo, races and a variety of competitions.

Reentertainment Rides and Amusements will be set up on the grounds all weekend. Food stands and game concessions will also be available for fair goers.

Exhibit entries and competitions of garden produce and flowers are open to all county residents. An amateur photography contest with a variety of categories plus “three photos that tell a story” has three age divisions.
