Officials at the Arrowhead Library System present Jungle Portraits, Photography with Frederick Blanch, a free program being offered at the International Falls Public Library at 6 p.m. May 13.

The program highlights photography of exotic birds, flowers and scenes from around the world plus hints on turning your photos into artistic masterpieces. Questions are encouraged during a program exploring the capture of nature with a camera, presented by writer/photographer, Blanch.

Blanch will take attendees through his exotic photographs from Ecuadorian sword-billed hummingbirds to colorful Puerto Rican Palms, to the tranquil setting of a Japanese reflecting garden. His collection represents many years of travel, through gardens, prairies, jungles, cloud forests and mountain regions throughout the world, according to a release.

Blanch will explain how his photographs are refined by incorporating the distinctive Jungle Portrait texture and, in some, inherent, but obscure colors are enhanced. The final picture is imprinted on high quality, white artist’s canvas by the giclée method and “gallery-wrapped” or traditionally framed beneath glass.

These events are sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System and funded by money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Tickets for this event and others are available at the local library.
