Tastes from around the world are coming to Backus Community Center for the sixth annual Ethnic Food Festival from 5:30 – 7 p.m. March 14 on the auditorium stage.
Organizers of the event invite the public to attend and sample the wide variety of international cuisine prepared by local chefs, cooks, bakers and volunteers.
Many of the volunteers share the same heritage as the food they are presenting, according to a release. Foods from Mexico, Latin America, Norway/Scandinavia, Vietnam, France, Italy, England, Native America, Philippines, Ireland, Korea, Germany and the United States are expected to be represented at the event.
Several different food stations will offer samples along with a table of ethnic desserts. Volunteers decorate their booths with souvenirs and keepsakes from their respective countries. Many are dressed in native costumes.
Sampling tickets are available at the door for $1 per ticket. Beer, wine and beverages will also be for sale.
Organizers say volunteers are invited to participate in the event. For more information, call Backus Community Center at 285-7225.
