Members of the International Falls Rotary Club are preparing for the third annual Mardi Gras Gala set for Saturday at Elks Lodge 1599.

The event will once again be raising funds to construct a Community Spray Park at City Beach. The project is a collaborative effort of International Falls Rotary, the city of International Falls, the city of Ranier and the Ranier Recreation Club, along with countless businesses who have made monetary and in-kind donations to make the project a reality, said a press release.

Saturday’s event will begin at 5 p.m. with a social hour and dinner served at 6 p.m. Dinner will include an authentic Cajun dinner catered by Cater For You of International Falls. Jen Gustafson, of Cater For You, will prepare chicken and sausage gumbo, braised short ribs on cheesy grits and desserts including bourbon glazed bread pudding, pralines and beignets. Special New Orleans-inspired drinks will also be available, said the release.

The meal will be followed by a raffle and live action. Tickets for the event are available at City Drug and from rotary member Ashley Hall.

Everyone is invited to join in the fun, which will also include dancing and a photo booth, said the release.

Donations to the event, as well as monetary donations to the spray park will be accepted through Friday. Contact Kathy Hultman or Hall to donate.

Last year, with the help of businesses and families from all across Northern Minnesota, the event raised over $25,000, with all proceeds going toward the spray park. Currently, close to half of the $218,000 needed has been raised.

The Rotary Club of International Falls, a 501©3 non-profit foundation is dedicated to benefiting and empowering youth in the area, said the release.
