MnDOT Staff Report

Motorists traveling on Highway 53 in Cotton will encounter lane closures and intermittent flagging closures now through late August. The traffic impacts are necessary while crews work on a Highway 53 safety and preservation project.

The project is scheduled to be completed in late August 2012.

Access to all Cotton businesses will be maintained during and after construction.

Safety benefits:

• A reduced conflict intersection will be built to improve safety and reduce crashes.

• The Paleface River Bridge will be re-decked and coated with epoxy chip seal to provide better skid resistance.

• Four miles of Highway 53 will be resurfaced providing a smoother and safer road designed to last several years.
