The Indus eighth grade Family & Consumer Sciences class recently completed a Junior Achievement Finance Park program introducing them to the concepts of financial institutions and services, income and expenses, budgeting, taxes, investments, and credit.
Family & Consumer Sciences teacher Lois Lewis notes, “Students completed a student workbook and finished the program by participating in a virtual simulation of JA Finance Park which was an exciting way to apply their knowledge.”
As a part of this program, Sherri Mannausau of TruStar Federal Credit Union volunteered her time to help students understand the importance of these concepts.
Tony Palm of Bremer Bank also recently shared his expertise about preparing for future employment with these students when he came to Indus as part of the CEO in the Classroom program locally sponsored by the Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training, the KEDA/SBDC office, and the International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.
