Kids and Company will wrap up its season at 6:30 p.m. April 23 with its final show, Project Soul, at the Townsend Theatre in Fort Frances.
Similar to the Border Concert Series in the Falls, Kids and Company offers shows for the entire family. Project Soul, a street dance troup from Vancouver, gears its performances to students from kindergarten to high school.
According to the group’s official website, Project Soul, was founded by Kim Sato, a traditionally trained dancer turned street dancer who brought together the underground talent of Vancouver that she discovered when starting to study the different disciplines of street dance.
As a crew, they hope to share the love and passion of hip hop and funk styles showing the positive impact it can have on communities and how it connects/identifies with so many of today’s youth, said the site.
Made up of 13 individuals, they specialize in different genres of street dance: popping, locking, hip hop, street jazz, and break dancing. Each person within the crew continues to study and train with the creators and leaders in their specific styles.
The site said Project Soul has a mission to spread the understanding of and love for street dance to as many communities as they possibly can. They simply want to continue to honor and respect the culture that has given them so much passion and kept them inspired.
Admission to the show is $10, and tickets are available at the Coffee Landing Café, the Fort Frances Public Library, Revco Carpet, and at the door.
