The Blandin Foundation has donated $25,000 to Kootasca Community Action to help jump-start its “PCs for People” programs in both International Falls and Grand Rapids, according to a news release.
The money came from the foundation’s Digital Inclusion Community Partnership initiative, which has goals that include reducing the number of Minnesota residents who lack computers, broadband access and computer literacy skills.
The nonprofit human services organization will use the funds to help support start-up costs associated with a program that will refurbish computers and distribute them to families in need, it stated.
Kootasca’s PCs for People program “will provide opportunity for low-income people to obtain computers at reduced costs, receive basic skills training and access broadband technology at both sites (Falls and Grand Rapids) through small on-site computer labs,” according to a news release.
