Accounting firm compliments L-BF Board
The fiscal audit for 2008-2009 shows the Littlefork-Big Falls School District to be in very stable financial condition.
Don Zierke of Miller McDonald accounting firm complimented the L-BF school board Jan. 20 for its financially sound practices in District 362, according to Superintendent Fred Seybert.
“Conditions are satisfactory and there are no areas of concern,” Seybert said. Because of that stability, delayed state-aid payments announced Tuesday by the Pawlenty administration will not cause a cash-flow problem for District 361, Seybert explained.
Seybert also reports that timber sales at a recent Big Falls auction on three parcels of land owned by the district netted $48,881. He noted that the timber will be removed from the properties over a period of two years, after which the land will likely be replanted.
The Minnesota School Board Association conference was attended by the majority of school districts within the state, Seybert said, noting that the turnout overflowed the normally reserved room at the workshop. All the districts were anxious to hear about the delay in allotment of monies, Seybert noted.
Seybert told the board that due to damage caused by a broken sprinkler system in special education rooms, carpet in those areas would be replaced during the first week of February.
