The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 by president Linda Chezick with 12 members present.

The opening ritual was held, roll call of officers conducted and conductress was Irene Anderson, pro-tem.

There were no petitions for membership.

The minutes from the November and December meetings, correspondence and the General Orders were read.

Bingo will be played Jan. 17 at the Good Samaritan Society-International Falls. Volunteers are needed and should arrive by 2:15 p.m. Those who can help out should contact Pat DeLapp.

The Veterans Appreciation Snowmobile Ride was Jan. 12. The auxiliary prepared a pork loin and chicken breast dinner for over 100 people. Preparation for the dinner started Jan. 11.

Sunday Bingo lunches have started and workers are needed for them.

Halle Bates was the third-place District winner for the Voice of Democracy and Molly Larsen was first place winner for Patriots Pen. The Voice of Democracy winner will attend the District meeting Feb. 16 in Gilbert and the Patriots Pen winner will attend the meeting in April in Cook.

Donations were made to the Silver Bay Veterans Home for the “Our Place” lunch program and to the St. Cloud VA for a fishing trip to Ely.

The door prize was won by Deb Lutgen.

The meeting ended at 8:45 p.m. with closing ceremonies.

The next meeting is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Post Home dining room.
