The Littlefork City Council voted Wednesday to adopt a revised ordinance regarding the operation and organizational structure of the Littlefork Ambulance Service.

The council and service members reviewed Ordinance 83B line by line before the council proceeded to approve the resolution, according to City Administrator Mike Fairchild.

Primary changes in the ordinance are centered on clarifying the city as the ultimate governing agent of the ambulance service, and that the ambulance chief reports directly to the city administrator.

Also defined in the ordinance is that all service officials including the chief, deputy chief, secretary-treasurer, training officer and scheduling officer, must be trained emergency medical technicians. First responders are excluded.

Membership in the volunteer ambulance service is also detailed, according to the mandates of the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board.

In addition, the ambulance service’s disciplinary policy and course of action is spelled out in the ordinance. The new ordinance will be published in The Daily Journal on Monday.

The annual meeting of the Littlefork Taxing District Board of Directors has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Littlefork Fire Hall. It is open to the public. The purpose of the meeting is to review the proposed 2010 Littlefork Ambulance Service budget and tax levy, and then to reject or adopt the proposal.
