Prom scheduled for May 1

The Littlefork-Big Falls School District Wednesday approved a contract with Aron Bohnert of Glencoe, Minn., as L-BF’s new K-12 music teacher.

Bohnert is a graduate of Bemidji State University and has dual licensure in vocal and instrumental teaching, said L-BF Superintendent Fred Seybert. Bohnert is scheduled to begin teaching in the fall.

Seybert also reports that the district received and accepted the resignation of its head cook, Vonna Sather, who is retiring effective May 31. Applications for the position will be posted within the school district, and will then be advertised for the public. Licensure in food services is required.

L-BF’s Nutrition Committee met recently and is working with Natalie Stone of the Koochiching County Health Department to develop a preliminary plan for funding received from the Statewide Health Improvement Program, known as SHIP.

The Building and Grounds Committee reported to the board the following projects which are ready for implementation: replacement of major portions of school carpeting; new lighting in both gymnasiums; an audio enhancement system for special needs students in 12 classrooms; and the purchase of a new floor scrubber. The projects will be funded by the one-day bond sale, and capital outlay.

The district Wednesday renewed a two-year contract with business manager Shelley Williams.

L-BF prom is scheduled for May 1.
