The Littlefork City Council discussed a number of items when it met Thursday.
Littlefork City Clerk Mike Fairchild reported that Kimberly Perkins, CEO of the Littlefork Medical Center, approached the council to inform the group that the heating unit at the medical facility needs to be replaced. She also sought direction from the council on potentially collaborating with a grant writer to seek grants for the medical center.
Fairchild said the city personnel committee will discuss Perkins’ proposal when it meets in a few weeks. The center is owned by the city.
In other business Thursday, the council learned the razing of a property located at the intersection of McPherson Street and Second Avenue is complete.
Grivette Environmental Management of Eveleth performed an asbestos abatement on the condemned property, and Fairchild said the remains have “been picked up and hauled away.”
The project cost about $2,900, and Fairchild noted the city has a budget for demolition projects.
The council also Thursday agreed to move forward with the architectural and engineering process to make improvements to the Littlefork Liquor Store. Fairchild said once a design is chosen, the council will seek bids for the project.
