After approving the resignations of two of its members at a special meeting Dec. 10, the Littlefork City Council is looking to appoint people to serve the remaining terms of Noel Schroeder and Glenn Weigold.
The council is scheduled to address the issue at 6 p.m. Thursday, prior to the 7 p.m. regular meeting in City Hall.
Members of the Littlefork Garden Club are scheduled to present a follow-up on a spring plan to restore a flag park area of the city. Garden club members Darlene Obermaier and Nicki Novotny reported to the council in November about improving the area as an attraction before the city’s scheduled 2010 All Class Reunion and the Fourth of July.
Reporting several offers of donations already, the women presented a sketched plan which shows new benching, shrubbery, bricked or paved walkways and flowers for the flag park. With about $1,000 in materials to be paid by the city, the club is offering the labor at no cost, with an initial daily maintenance of the area for a contribution of $500 paid to the club. There was also discussion of adding a gazebo or shade areas to the site.
“I see this as positive all the way around,” said Councilor Loren Lehman at the November meeting.
Under old business on the agenda, council discussions are scheduled to include the ambulance facility, an all-terrain vehicle ordinance, the Jackpine Savage statue, Unorganized Township Road 168, a wetlands consultant presentation, and an ambulance compliance review.
Resolutions on employee cost of living adjustments, the 2009 tax levy and the 2010 general fund budget are slated for discussion. Fund budgets for 2010 water, sewer, liquor, capital projects and economic development are also scheduled for review.
Additional agenda items include a city Web site, a grant consultant, an appointed board member for the Littlefork Medical Center, and manager for the Littlefork Airport.
A comment period is open to the public at every regular Littlefork Council meeting.
