The Littlefork City Council Thursday agreed to demolish a condemned property at the intersection of McPherson Street and Second Avenue.
The property owner is required to pay the cost of about $900, and the city will raze the building.
In other business, the council agreed to allow an annual city-wide clean up.
Sonja Pelland, administrative assistant to the city, reports that the clean up is scheduled for May 12-18. During that time, Littlefork residents may place bagged leaves, bundled branches, and other gathered green garbage on the street in front of their homes, and the city will dispose of it at no cost.
The council also Thursday agreed to hire summer maintenance help. Applications can be picked up at the clerk’s office in City Hall. The individual must be at least 16 years old and have a driver’s license. The applicant who is offered the job will be paid $7.25 per hour.
An update was given on the relocation of the Veteran’s Memorial Flag Park. In February, Littlefork resident Chris Courtner approached the council with intentions of building an indoor shooting range where the flag park is located.
When Courtner purchased the former Wells Fargo Bank building on Main Street last year, he also acquired the property the flag park sits on. Pelland reports, “the flag park has been dismantled, but the new location has not been determined.” A decision is expected to be made at the May council meeting.
The council also heard Thursday that the new ambulance purchased by the Littlefork Fire Department from the city of International Falls is running well and the department is pleased with the purchase.
