Features of the 19th annual Birchdale Pioneer Days fundraiser are likely to hearken some people back to an earlier day, when blacksmiths had a corner shop and skillets were thrown.
Skillets thrown? Yes, it’s a part of the celebration July 13 and 14 that raises money for the non-profit River Valley Development Association that operates the Birchdale Community Building.
The event features antique tractors and gas engines, antique and classic cars, live old-time music from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and after church Sunday, arts and crafts vendors, and a petting zoo, among others.
In addition, a flapjack breakfast is offered each day at 8 a.m. and an exhibitor parade is around noon.
