Koochiching County has been recognized as the most improved in reduction of workers’ compensation claims for 2012.
The county board was notified by the Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust that the county will be recognized by the Association of Minnesota Counties at its award banquet during the AMC Conference to be held in St. Cloud in December.
In a letter to the board, MCIT Executive Director Robyn Sykes, a former county resident, said Koochiching has distinguished itself in the areas of loss control, risk management, claims administration and responsiveness to MCIT.
“MCIT commends the county’s commitment to managing exposures that jeopardize employees and citizens of the county to loss,” said Sykes in the letter.
In addition, the county’s recognition will be acknowledged in the MCIT 2012 annual report to its members.
MCIT is a joint risk sharing entity. According to its website, its is a member services organization created by counties and made available to other public entities through an intergovernmental joint powers agreement. MCIT provides Minnesota county governments and related organizations with property, casualty and workers’ compensation coverage as well as relevant risk management and loss control services tailored to the unique business of public entities and other related organizations.
