Snow characters

Salvation Army Envoy Beverly Mayfield, left, and Judy Kielczewski, will make an appearance at Super One Saturday to take photos with community members. From noon to 8 p.m., the Festival of Frost Queen and other characters will collect donations in a frosted jar. All the money collected will be donated to the Red Kettle Campaign.

The Salvation Army’s kettle campaign is in full swing.

Less than a week of bell ringing remains and there’s one last thing left to do – double donations.

Every donation to the International Falls Salvation Army through Dec. 24 will be matched, thanks to a generous gift.

“This is really wonderful and will certainly help with our final fundraising push this Christmas season,” said local Envoy Beverly Mayfield, International Falls Salvation Army administrator. “Every red cent that we receive up to $10,000 will be matched thanks to an anonymous donor.”

If $1 is dropped into a red kettle, the donation is actually $2. If you bring a check into The Salvation Army office, are able to give a gift of stock, or donate online, those donations will be matched, too, up to $10,000.

And Mayfield said there’s another way to up the anti Saturday.

“On Saturday, we’re also offering free family photos at Stewart’s Super One Grocery and a special thanks to the Stewart family and Judy Kielczewski for helping us,” said Mayfield. “Simply donate to the red kettle and you can take a fun photo with characters like the Festival of the Frost Queen, Snow Queen from the East, Guardian of the Christmas trees, and the Frost Ferries.”

If unable to give monetarily, there’s still time to volunteer to bell ring.

“If you have an extra hour or two, please consider signing up to help those in crisis in our community,” urged Mayfield.
