International Falls’ record-breaking cold temperatures Thursday and Friday prompted a visit by The Weather Channel’s Mike Seidel and his cameraman.

Seidel interviewed local folks Thursday afternoon as the city hit a record daily coldest high temperature of 12 degrees, breaking the previous record of 15 set in 1926.

Friday morning, Falls Mayor Bob Anderson amazed Seidel by appearing without a hat during a live broadcast when a record low temperature of -14 degrees was set, breaking the previous record of -6 set in 1986.
