Local veterans presented a program to Koochiching County students Wednesday in honor of Veterans Day.
Harley Droba, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 commander, related to area children by comparing veterans to their favorite superheroes.
“You may never get to meet a superhero, but we’re going to let you meet the men and women here today,” he said during a presentation at Falls Elementary School.
Wednesday’s program included a flag folding ceremony with readings from students on the meaning of each flag’s fold, music from the student choir, the playing of Taps and Margarete Kostiuk performed on her harmonica.
In Indus, National Honor Society members performed a skit titled, “Who is a Veteran,” which provided information about the meaning of the word “veteran” and why it should be honored.
