Bronco forward and Mr. Hockey candidate Ben Gordon scored six goals at Bronco Arena Saturday as the Falls High School boys hockey team pounded Proctor 10 to 1. The team finishes the regular season with 20 wins.

25 YEARS AGO

The Rainy River Community College women’s basketball team lost its bid to capture a Northeast Division title at the RRCC gym tonight, losing a 67-59 decision to Vermilion Community College of Ely.

40 YEARS AGO

Mrs. Amelia Eddy of Ray celebrated her 95th birthday Thursday. Her many friends and relatives of Ray, Ericsburg and the Falls visited and had coffee and cake during the day and evening event.

50 YEARS AGO

U.S. Navy Seaman Apprentice Henry Youso arrived home for a two-week leave.

60 YEARS AGO

Letter to the Editor: “For 30 years past, many people have made known their interest and desires of extending Highway 11, east of our friendly cities, to open up building sites and for a more scenic drive in the lake area… It would seem that now would be an exceptionally good time for such an extension, especially in view of the fact that unemployment here is at the highest it has been since 1939.” — John Bennington

70 YEARS AGO

The Falls Public Library staff was augmented this week with the arrival of Miss Mildred Bergene and Miss Hanna Ruth Rosenberg. Miss Bergene will have charge of the school section while Miss Rosenberg is to supervise county library activities and head the children’s department.
