Newly elected International Falls councilors will take the oath of office at 4 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at the Falls Municipal Building.
Pete Kalar and Bob Anderson, elected by city voters in November, will be seated in the positions of councilor-at-large and mayor, respectively, after District Court Judge Charles LeDuc delivers the oath.
The council is scheduled to meet in the council chambers for an organizational meeting at 5:30 p.m. when the council is expected to elect a council president pro-tem, who serves in the mayor's absence, as well as make appointments to committees and offices.
The regular council meeting is scheduled to immediately follow the organizational meeting in the council chambers. The council offers at the beginning of each regular meeting an opportunity for members of the public to address the council and concludes the meeting with reports of the administrator, attorney, department supervisors and council members. An agenda is considered tentative until the government body adopts or makes revisions to the proposed agenda.
The council in its regular meeting is expected discuss a recommendation by the Charter Commission to amend the city charter. In addition, the council is scheduled to discuss the July 2 International Peaceful Borders Day and to consider letters of interest submitted by city residents to serve as honorary councilor.
