Paul Fish, chairman of Minnesota DFL Third Senate District, announced Monday that no DFL endorsing convention will be held for the state House District 3A seat.

The seat was left vacant with the death in August of Rep. David Dill. The field of candidates will be narrowed in a Sept. 29 special primary election and filled in a Dec. 8 special election.

“The residents of House District 3A lost a true champion with the passing of Rep. David Dilll,” Fish said in a statement. “The voters of 3A deserve the opportunity to select the DFL candidate who best represents their interests. Therefore, a DFL endorsing convention for the 3A seat will not be held. Participation in the Sept. 29 primary is encouraged.”

Four DFLers have filed for the position: Rob Ecklund, Koochiching County; Heidi Omerza, St. Louis County; Eric Johnson, Koochiching County; and Bill Hansen, Cook County.

Roger J. Skraba, St. Louis County, has filed as a Republican.

Kelsey Johnson, St Louis County, has filed as an Independent.
